Just get on with it – why is RiverLink taking so long?

That’s a good question. The short answer is that we have to follow the same rules that everyone else does when it comes to building, carrying out construction and doing things that will have an affect on the environment. There’s a lot of information that needs to be gathered, checked, confirmed, consulted on and approved. This includes the process around lodging a resource consent application (which can take up to three months or more).

As enabling works are intended to commence in late 2022 the project is being progressed directly with the Environment Court. This provides a timely process to get decisions on the project made.
