The land under the affected properties (required for the project) is needed for construction and to widen the river and raise the stopbanks. This is required to carry out vital flood protection work, to prevent Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai - Lower Hutt from flooding, and for the construction of the new Melling Interchange, along with the new pedestrian and cycle bridge.
